Once again Kanye West proves why he is the most overrated, talentless and undeserving musician in the entertainment industry. Quoting from MTV:
“The rapper stormed the stage just after the first award, for Best Female Video, was presented to Taylor Swift. He cut the teen singer off, grabbing the mic and protesting in support of Beyoncé.
“I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” he proclaimed as B looked on from the crowd, stunned…
[…]His protest against Swift, however, was not well received. West stood briefly on the stage after his comments as the crowd was silent. Audience members then began to clap in support of Swift after West left the stage.
According to reports from inside the house, once cameras cut away from the action, West flipped off the crowd and returned to his seat.”
This was Taylor’s first VMA award win. Her crowning achievement. Something she had always wanted, and had yet to receive (considering she is only 19) and Kanye West had to go ahead and pull a dick move like this. It’s absolutely unacceptable and I’m tired of it. As much as people might hate me for this post, I’ve had enough of this reverse racism that we have going on in this country. For some reason it’s alright for black musicians, politicians, actors etc to make comments against white people in their same profession, or call eachother the N-Word because they’re black…but the moment a white person says something offensive against a black person it’s carried all over the news. Suddenly it’s not alright and that person needs to ‘resign’ or publicly apologize for their comments. How comes people never ask Kanye etc to apologize? There’s a sick double standard going on in this country and I’ve had it up to here with it.
And no, I’m not a racist so don’t call me one. I have many black friends, support a lot of black music (my favorite soul artist is Smokey Robinson), and even voted for President Obama and felt proud for our country that we were able to finally get past our ignorance and elect a president who wasn’t white. Still it’s disappointing to see such racism (and reverse racism) still exist in this country, despite how much we’ve accomplished.
Kanye, you need to go. If you’re not going to respect what the world has given to you, and be humble…even after your mother has passed away, than you are are sorry excuse for a human being and don’t deserve to be a musician. Get off the stage, and give the mic to an artist who deserves it, or do us all a favor and STFU.
