In the world of politics; irony is a dish best served cold. Upon making Red White And Crude I intended this site to be part social commentary and part political satire. My mission for this site was to offer a sarcastic/lighthearted view of the political spectrum; and while usually I am the one doing the mockery, occasionally there will be time when a story is so ludicrous on it’s own merits, that it basically makes fun of itself. The latest story I bring to you all is just that, and I’m certain I couldn’t make up a story like this even if I tried.

Quoting the Wall Street Journal:

“Protesters who attended Saturday’s Tea Party rally in Washington found a new reason to be upset: Apparently they are unhappy with the level of service provided by the subway system.

Rep. Kevin Brady asked for an explanation of why the government-run subway system didn’t, in his view, adequately prepare for this past weekend’s rally to protest government spending and government services.

In a way I wish the above was a joke. I wish this was something I could’ve made up myself, but astonishingly the teabaggers really did use a government run public transit service, to gain transportation to their rally against government spending and government services.

Not only that, but it seems they are now claiming the service provided by the DC Metro was inadequate and not up to the needs of the teabaggers who attended the rally. A service that is funded by tax payer money, and (funnily enough) would’ve been upgraded through a version of the stimulus plan that contained money to upgrade that very metro station…a bill that Brady opposed and voted against (FAIL!).

The above irony only dictates why Republican leaders should not be trusted to uphold the best interests of the American people. In their quest to derail the President and stand against him on his most important measures (keep in mind the Stimulus passed with ZERO Republican support), they are short handing the constituents they have sworn to protect, even going as far to reject stimulus funds to prove a point (and further driving their state into poverty in the process).

It’s a ridiculous reality which is supported by these very people who go these rallies and hold signs, protesting the Public Health Care Option, and Big Government. Looking at how much Republicans have defied the best interests of Americans for political gain, it almost makes me wonder if the teabaggers really know what they’re protesting against, or as Carter put it so truthfully…these protests are racially charged.-

Wouldn’t surprise me. With organizations like the KKK, Sons of Confederate Veterans (that defends slavery as a benign institution), etc being allowed to exist in this country; and screams of Obama being Muslim filling the air at every protest, it’s clear that as much as we felt we had passed that horrible point in our country’s history…it’s still very much alive in the hearts of teabaggers opening their mouths wide for the cause of freedom.

(You’re welcome for that visual.)
